Fighting the Stress Weight Gain

Stress weight gain is one of the most common effects of our daily stress. The body metabolism is highly affected by stress and thus influences in a negative manner the body weight.

Which are the mechanisms that determine stress weight gain?

Stress causes an affection of the neurologic and vegetative nervous system which automatically leads to the increase of the gastric acid levels. Those are common feelings for many of us during stressful moments such as exams, for example. The gastric acid excess determines us to take all sorts of snacks in order to calm the unpleasant sensations caused by the gastric acid (which sometimes can be really painful). The situation can become even worse, when gastritis or ulcer occur due to the same stress.

When we are stressed, we are searching for something to compensate our feelings and that makes us feel better, leading to stress weight gain. Most of the times, food or alcohol represent a true shelter against stress, and this is where stress weight gain always begins. This brief pleasure moment relaxes us and brings us a false feeling of joy, and this is why nutritionists don't recommend starting a diet if you feel depressed. First you should treat the depression then start dieting.

Stress weight gain is determined by a series of chemical disturbances of the body hormones that influence negatively the functioning of the endocrine glands. This leads to a slower burning process of the fats, the water retention and implicitly the weight gain. Stress weight gain is a process that is often associated with a continuous state of fatigue, the lack of joy and the tendency to oversleep or anything else that keeps us away from all the daily problems. The consequence of this situation is that we exercise less and help stress weight gain takeover our lives.

In order to avoid stress weight gain you should start with finding the causes of your stress and try solving the problems one by one. It is recommended that you ask for professional advice if you think your problems are deeper. A good psychologist will teach you how to deal with stress weight gain and get back your inner balance. At the same time, for fighting stress weight gain you should try living a healthier life and eat nutritious and dietetic foods. Trying drastic diets or returning to the old eating habits will disturb even more the body balance and cause stress weight gain.

You can avoid stress weight gain if you follow our simple seven rules:

1. Have fun and enjoy every minute of your life!

2. Love people around you, be tolerant but always keep your dignity!
