The Negative Influence of Stress Weakens the Immune System

There has been studied and demonstrated that the immune system and the central nervous system have a very tight connection. So, if one of them is damaged, then the other suffers too. It is also known that stress affects first the brain with the nervous cells, so stress weakens the immune system.

The researchers got to the conclusion that stress affects the body, the brain, but most of all, it stimulates the effect of the viruses and weaken the immune system's response to those viruses. With the contagious diseases and the viruses as hepatitis B the immune system reacts in a weakened way and the antibodies are in a very low quantity.

- The vaccines did not have a complete effect on those subjects put under stress.

Persons infected with HIV virus and that suffered from stress the advancement of the disease has been demonstrated to be quicker. Also the appearance of herpes viruses is a cause of stress.

- Women that were exposed to great stress said that developed even genital herpes.

- The stress hormones also play an important role in a reactivation of some viruses.

- Certain wounds heal harder if the ill person is under stress.

- There is also a very strong connection between stress, inflammations, and aging.

The most damaging kind of stress has proved to be psychological stress. Different from the physical stress the psychological stress weakens the immune system because, as we mentioned above, there is a strong connection between the brain and the immune system. If the brain is affected then the immune system does not function in its normal conditions either.

The most serious diseases, like we have mentioned, have a serious root in stress. Maybe the virus got into the body in a certain way independent to stress but this last agent has a stronger word to say in the development and in the curing of that virus. In the experiments made by the scientists, the subjects exposed to stress could not have been cured at all, or, at least, not for good, or the diseases they used to suffer from have reappeared after a certain period of time.

Viruses like the hepatitis B or light infections, or inflammations are not such dangerous elements in one's health, if cured in time. But if they are not adequately treated, they can generate into serious affections.

- One of the conditions for them to be cured for good is for that person to be relaxed and not to experience stress.

But in the diseases like cancer, HIV virus, if stress weakens the immune system, the damage can be even worse. Either they cannot be cured and the stress just accelerates their evolution, or they recede after initially have been cured (but the virus still exists) and again their development is much accelerated.

Summarizing, stress weakens the immune system, and it does it very seriously. A more relaxed life means not only a life without stress but also without serious diseases.
