Activate the Stress Management and Accelerated Learning
Stress management and accelerated learning are closely related. In order for effective accelerated learning to occur an individual must be able to manage his stress sufficiently so that it doesntt have a detrimental effect on the techniques used.
Accelerated learning is a learning technique used by individuals to provide a mechanism for learning and retaining more information at once. It works on the basis that we only use 20% of our brain's potential capacity, and that we can use a higher proportion of this in our learning activities. Accelerated learning works by utilising both sides of our brain, which makes our brain cells do more work. Stress management and accelerated learning are linked in this instance because without effective stress management it becomes more difficult to use both sides of our brains efficiently.
>> If we are stressed, making our brains work harder will make us feel higher levels of anxiety and have a negative overall impact on our learning output.
1. Stress management and accelerated learning cope into translating concepts into group activity based demonstrations. An example of this can be found in the use of a theatrical interpretation of a scientific activity. This becomes more memorable to an individual and provides them with a mechanism to learn the concept in a different form.
* This is in affect learning by example in a practical setting.
* The fact that a scientific concept has been described in a theatrical environment means that not only does an individual learn using alternative methods but also gains rewards from the collaborative element.
* In fact the reward is so great that it reduces stress of learning new concepts, displaying another link between stress management and accelerated learning.
2. A secondary element to accelerated learning is the importance of going over what has been learned multiple times. It is very easy for an individual to learn something and then forget it less than a day later. How do we combat this? By regular review with a tutor the student reinforces concepts that he or she has learned during the accelerated learning techniques and remembers them more effectively.
* The review of concepts which have been learned during the process of active learning is also an effective method of reducing stress in students when it comes to the time of the year when revision is necessary for exams.
In a normal classroom situation a concept will be learned and reviewed possibly once, or more likely never. These students will have more work to do than a child who has participated in accelerated learning before exams. The concepts have already been reviewed once or more times and consequently revision will be a brief process where a student can focus on a small number of topics that he or she finds difficult in depth rather than skim all topics to a comparatively shallow extent.
The conclusion to our research on how to benefit from stress management and accelerated learning has revealed that persons and especially student affected by various levels of stress can successfully turn their lives around and enjoy the college years by effective and simple ways promoted by the accelerated learning.
