5 Upsetting Side Effects of Stress

The side effects of stress are starting to take over more and more people, and this is a fact that the latest medical studies have underlined . The daily problems of our lives can get us stressed, and sometimes we forget that the side effects of stress can essentially damage our overall health. Family problems, job pressures or tensioned relationships are just few of the causes of stress, and most of the times, their effects are unavoidable. Here are five of the most important side effects of stress:

1. DEPRESSION is one of the side effects of stress, caused actually by the excess of stress. When people are not able any more to cope with the stressing situations in their lives, the pressure starts accumulating in the entire body and mind. This often leads to anxiety then depression. The secret is to learn the early sign of stress and tension and try to relieve them before the depression takes over your body.

2. WEIGHT GAIN is another upsetting element of the side effects of stress. What happens is that the calories intake increases significantly during stressful moments. When we are stressed, we try to compensate the problems we are facing by eating more than we need. The worst thing is that we tend to eat food that is not good for our body, full of sugar and unhealthy oils.

3. WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM. Stress has a big role in weakening our immune system. It starts by deploying the cells that are supposed to fight against the diseases. As a result, we get ill easier and our body gets weaker.

4. BUTTER FINGERS is a term widely used for indicating a decreased dexterity of the fingers. Amazingly, this is one of the side effects of stress. As our body becomes weaker and drained of its vital energy while trying to steam off the tension, the fingers seem to lose their power and dexterity. This leads to all sorts of accidents, that happen at home or at you workplace. The situation can become dangerous if you have to deal at the job with dangerous substances or activities that require you to focus and use the hand dexterity. Stress affects your concentration, the level of information processing and your behavior. It's obvious that accidents are more likely to happen if you experience high levels of stress.

5. INSOMNIA can make you feel less able to cope with the tasks you have to perform the following day, which will automatically increase the level of stress and cause you another night without a healthy sleep. Moreover, the lack of proper sleep (meaning about six hours a night) is also related to weight gain, according to numerous studies.

* You can ameliorate this side effect of stress by trying to manage better your time between your daily activities (job, social life, family) and the night sleep.

* Listen to some relaxing music; take a nice long bath ad get a hot cup of tea. If you forget about the stressing situations that expect you tomorrow, you will manage to sleep and refresh your mind and body.

You can try to ameliorate some of the side effects of stress by opting for different techniques, such as stress management programs, natural stress relief products or stress relief techniques. In addition, games or any other funny and distracting activities can turn into important factors in the process of escaping the stress and depression. Take it step by step and try to deal with stressful conditions in our life lightly; after all, we are talking about your health!
