7 Rules on How To Manage Stress
Stress is a part of life; no one can deny this fact. But this doesn't mean you let stress overcome your mind and body; you have to learn how to manage stress. This is called being stressed out. The more we get stressed out, the more we are vulnerable to illness. So all of us should learn how to manage the stress? This is because you can't remove stress from your life. You'll be facing it someday. So instead of getting overly worried about it, try to manage it. There are various ways to manage stress. But we'll discuss the most common and effective ones:
BREATHE EASILY:
This is one of the common techniques on how to manage stress. This can also be treated as an experiment. What you have to do is to take a deep breath, then put your hand on your abdomen just a slightly below the navel. Slowly inhale the air through your nose and you will notice your hands have started to move as your abdomen expands. After holding the air for few seconds, slowly exhale the air out. Repeat this step several times and you'll feel much relaxed.
VISUALIZE CALM:
This is somewhat similar to hypnosis in which you go into a deep state of relaxation. Visualizing calm is another way of getting yourself in a relaxed state. There are certain prerequisite for visualizing calm. When learning how to manage stress, you need the following:
1- You have sufficient time.
2- Get to a very quiet and peaceful place.
When you have these, and then take a chair. Sit on it in a relaxed mood. Gently close your eyes and take two or three long deep breath and spends few minutes on visualizing a scene in which you want yourself to be. Then try to focus on minor details as well, like sound of the birds etc. you'll feel your self in a heaven.
SAY CHEESE:
Some people use to hide their stress by their smile, and this is a great way to deal with how to manage stress. Others try to get relieve from their stress through smile or even laughter. We usually smile when we are in a happy and relaxed mood. But this can also be used as a weapon against stress. It's not necessary that you only smile when you are happy. Try to smile to get yourself happy when you are under stress. In short, you can very well smile if you want to start learning how to manage stress.
BE A FIGHTER:
It is a very good approach towards how to manage stress. Be proactive! For example, if you have missed a train, don't start thinking about it. You'll get another. If you can't understand what you teacher is delivering, don't sit quiet, and ask her to redeliver that part of the lecture for you. Try to do each and everything that makes you comfortable.
PUT IT ON PAPER:
Get a paper and divide it into two equal parts. List all those worries or factors causing stress that you can change on the left hand side and on the right hand side, list those you can't. The best further step that you can take is to change what you can and stop thinking about those you can't because there is no use of thinking over those.
SWITCH TO DECAF:
Try to withdraw from caffeine drinks. This is another interesting way of how to manage the stress. You can have some decaf to your morning cup. Try to continue this activity for few weeks. Then try to gradually increase the amount of decaf to normal. One more important thing is avoid soft drinks. Use mineral water or any other caffeine free drinks as an alternate.
SAY YES TO PRESSURE:
In whatever field you are, you will the pressure of getting success. Just like a football team or a cricket team. Most of the team lose their important matches because they take the pressure on their nerves. A winner wins by handling the pressure properly. So the best way to avoid getting under pressure is to say YES to the pressure. Take it positively and as a challenge.
