Getting Back to Basics with Daily Stretch for Stress Relief

Everyone agrees to the fact that some daily stretch for stress relief soaks up stress chemicals and promotes relaxation and good sleep. Opinions differ when it comes to choosing the right kind of exercise that fights stress. Some people prefer hours of cardio and power training, or other like hardcore exercise, because they feel that wasting themselves up physically is the best way to evacuate accumulated mental stress.

Experts, however, advise working up only a light sweat – or a ‘glow’, as they call it. Medical research has also proven that the ideal type of fitness exercises which really evacuate stress need to be moderate, basically some daily stretch for stress relief.

* In fact, they need to be so light that we should be able to hold a conversation while performing them; that is we should not work out until we are so breathless that we can hardly speak.

* In this sense, stretching is one of the best fitness routines we could adopt to fight stress.

Our state of mind influences our physical health more than we can ever imagine. Any kind of psychological or emotional tension eventually leads to bodily tensions in the form of pain, stiffness and abdominal cramps.

* Daily stretch for stress relief helps fight stiffness of the body and relaxes the muscles. * So, if mental tension causes body muscles to grow rigid, the mind undoubtedly feels some kind of relief when the muscles grow supple.

Performing a variety of slow gestures while we focus our attention on the sensations arising from these gestures creates a feeling of unity and equilibrium between the mind and the body. We become more aware of our body and of its sensations if we choose the daily stretch for stress relief. Often when we suffer from excess stress, our mind tends to be hyperactive while our body grows stiff and slack. Stretching exercises may even help us discover new bodily sensations, and we may be tempted to start taking care of our own self again.

* Thus, a daily stretching routine would not only evacuate accumulated tensions around the body but also encourage greater self-awareness, giving a wake-up call to the mind so that it begins to think of taking care of the body.

Besides, stress is often related to our inability to adapt to particular situations or circumstances. As daily stretch for stress relief also returns suppleness to the body, it also gives a degree of suppleness to the mind. In other words, we develop faculties of adaptation; when we see the progress of our body in terms of how much suppleness it has acquired, we begin to believe in ourselves and in our capacity to face certain situations.

Quite contrary to what we usually think, tiredness is often not the result of a lack of energy but rather related to a bad circulation of the energy that is already present in our body but is either being over-utilized by a hyperactive mind, or is monopolized by the internal disagreement between the mind and the body. In brief, stress consumes our energy like fire consumes logs of wood.

* Stretching exercises, which are accompanied by breathing patterns more than any other form of physical exercise, stimulates the circulation of the energy throughout the body. * The purpose of Yoga, which is one form of stretching exercise, is precisely based on this contention.

Making time for some daily stretch for stress relief would in a way compel you to slow down your gestures for at least a few minutes during the day. And as your body gets steadier and your muscles grow stronger, your mind may acquire the same attributes as well.
