Divorce Stress - Is There Any Way to Relieve It ? - Part One
Divorce is one big stressor that tears down the home that was once built with so much love and understanding. Couples who have divorced may feel totally crushed down to even make daily living as normal as it was used to be. Divorcees face the psychological trouble of rebuilding their lives from scratch. But despite the ugly separation, life still continues, and one must learn the art of standing alone again. Below are some helpful ideas on how to deal with the stress that comes during and after a divorce.
1. Have Sufficient Rest and Eat Wisely
A divorce can get your mind so busy with a lot of worries and questions. Try to get your mind temporarily off the troubles of divorce by sleeping. A deep sleep of six to eight hours a night can help rejuvenate your tired mind and body. You will notice that you can think and feel better the next morning. If you can, take also a short nap in the afternoon. This will increase your productivity at work during the day. Diet and nutrition also play an important role in helping you manage your stress level. Drink lots of water, eat more fruits and vegetables, and take vitamins to increase your resistance against coughs, colds and fever. There are also teas available that have a calming effect in the body.
2. Give Yourself a Treat
When you are in a relationship, caring for the other partner is a responsibility. There are a lot of things that need attention and caring like home, family, and the demands of your job. All these things can make you forget about your own needs. However, do not forget that you are primarily responsible for your own happiness and well-being. That’s why it is necessary to give yourself time, and spend for whatever little thing that makes you happy. Give your discriminating palate the slice of cake that it so desires to taste. Give your eyes the visual delight that it wants to see. Engage yourself in a hobby.
3. Get Physical
Moving your body for a much needed physical exercise can enhance your mood. Make it a routine to walk briskly or jog around the village until you sweat. This could get you into a good mood at the beginning of the day. You may also want to enroll in a fitness program even if you do not necessarily need to slim down. The idea is to get yourself into regular physical exercise; and when you are doing it with a group, it becomes more enjoyable because you can get to meet new friends. Make it also a point to be conscious of how you breathe. You can do this by breathing slow and deep. Inhale through the nose and feel your abdomen expanding. Exhale through the mouth and feel your abdomen contracting.
