Stress That Strikes Day After Day
Stress is a phase in one’s life where there is a disparity between the demands that are put on him and the means he could use to overcome such burden. Therefore stress is a process which should be dealt with, it was never a finding. During this period, the amount of stress that pressures a person may depend on his ability to cope with such situation; this is the reason why nerve-racking situations for some people are not as tough for the others.
Usually, in the medical point of view, the word “stress” is practically equated with conditions that cause uneasiness in one person; and when this is left untreated, it may lead to other health issues like anxiety and extreme depression. However, stress does not necessarily have to be negative for people. There are some people who succeed in what they do because of the pressure placed on them, and some even work better when they are stressed.
Stress becomes a setback when a person begins to feel that he cannot deal with the what is going on around him. Clinically speaking, stress happens when a person feels that his ability to cope with the demands that happen in his life is not strong enough to get him through the hard times. Thus, even everyday things like home, school and work environment, one’s lifestyle and his emotional and personal approach in life, including how he treats his problems, how he manages his life, how he sees himself and how his support group may come to his aid in times of need, all these may add to the possibility of being stressed out.
Stress That Occurs at Work
The workplace can be stressful for one person. The long hours of working, the working relationship with a co-worker, or the feeling of being secluded are just a few of factors that may remain unsettled and eventually may result to stress at work. Thus, in order to prevent more stress in the workplace, a person should be able to accept the fact that not everything in life can be arranged according to his pleasure.
There are times when simple coping with certain conduct can resolve stress, and an upright change of such unwanted behavior can solve the problem. This is why many associations have guidelines regarding work conduct which are created to avoid work place issues like harassment, victimization, and unequal treatment of employees.
However, for problems which are believed to be untreated, acceptance of such situation can be helpful. For instance, when you feel that someone was given a job position in your work place even though he does not have the qualifications for such job, you may continue to feel the stress until such time that you have fully accepted the fact and that you can already move on.
Proper Stress Management
Just like in other problems, in stress management prevention is always better than cure. A regular exercise is a great way to deal with stress, especially doing those exercises that will make you feel lighter afterwards. Staying away from conflicts and situations that can make you feel stressed is also good. However, ignoring problems can never be the best way to solve them. Be able to find some time to give yourself a break. Try to be around people who makes you feel better.
Eat healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables; too much sweets and fats are never good for your diet. You should get enough sleep. If you have difficulty in sleeping, try to do things that can relax your body and your thoughts like reading a book, listening to soft music, and the likes. Lastly, be certain that you enjoy your life to the fullest. Know how to balance your life, fun and work should always be equal, not one outweighing the other.
